Beyond the Basics Individual Session: Talent Life Cycle


Program Overview:

This session will focus on HR’s role in guiding the selection process throughout the talent life cycle. From attraction and acquisition to development and retention, you’ll learn today’s best practices including: promoting your organization as an employer of choice to attract the best talent and making optimal hiring decisions to build high performing teams. This session also includes hands-on practice to improve behavioral interviewing.




Lauri Rich, Founder, Infinite Connections, LLC


Lauri Rich began her career in Human Resources at Harvard University in 1982 and has since held leadership positions in various industries including: a high growth training solutions company, a global internet conferencing corporation, the largest managed care provider and the world’s leading education company.
In 2001, Lauri founded Infinite Connections, LLC, a strategic human capital consulting firm dedicated to providing innovative and scalable solutions to business challenges. She has been engaged to work with a variety of clients, aligning their business and people strategies and integrating sustainable workforce planning models to drive performance results. She is noted for establishing best practices to identify, acquire, develop and retain talent at all levels as well as coaching leaders and teams to peak performance.    
Lauri holds a BA in Management from Simmons College, where she was appointed the Talent Acquisition Executive in Residence in 2009. She has been an active member and speaker for NEHRA since 1998.  
She teaches the Hiring Basics module of NEHRA's HR Basics program, as well as the Talent Life Cycle portion of Beyond the Basics. 


Laura Horlitz, Talent Acquisition ManagerBlue Cross Blue Shield of MA

Laura Horlitz is the Talent Acquisition Manager of Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA. She joined BCBSMA in 2003 as Senior Recruiter and has responsibility for Talent Acquisition for several major corporate areas of the company including Finance, Legal, and Corporate Strategy. Previously, Laura was an independent corporate recruiter and human resources consultant for numerous organizations, guiding their efforts in building best practice recruitment functions.  


Laura’s talent assessment and development skills were developed over a 15-year career with nSight in Burlington, MA. Laura grew and managed the staffing division of the communications services firm with responsibility for major accounts including Fidelity Investments, Massachusetts Medical Society, State Street Corporation, and major high tech companies and internet start-ups.  

Laura has been a presenter at career seminars sponsored by Harvard Business Publishing, Bookbuilders of Boston, Society for Technical Communication, and numerous Colleges and Universities. In 2011, Laura was recognized by her peers in the Association of Employment Professionals annual excellence in recruiting recognition event.  


Laura holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Ithaca College.
