Join us as we discuss the Top 10 compliance questions Human Resources professionals are challenged with daily. We understand you have many questions around compliance as it relates to employee benefits so our goal during our webinar is to help you better understand:

Presenter:
Josie Martinez, Senior Partner and General Counsel, EBS Capstone

As Senior Partner and General Counsel at EBS Capstone, Ms. Martinez specializes in advising employers on legal and compliance matters that arise relating to ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA and other employee benefits related issues, as well as consulting on health and welfare plans. Ms. Martinez’s experience in navigating the legislative process and analysis of regulations, are a valuable resource for our clients as the complexities of Healthcare Reform are being implemented over the next few years. Ms. Martinez routinely speaks on all aspects of Healthcare Reform, including the financial impact to employers, “skinny plans,” exchange coverage, Department of Labor audits, SHOP regulations, and federal and state wellness programs.  As an attorney for the past 19 years, Josie brings a breadth of experience as an advisor on risk assessment, business strategies, contract negotiations, government investigations and regulatory compliance.   

Ms. Martinez comes to EBS Capstone from McCarter & English LLP where she was a Partner in the Business & Financial Services Litigation Group representing private and public companies in all stages of litigation, settlement negotiations, mediation proceedings and arbitrations in complex commercial disputes.

Prior to joining McCarter & English LLP, Ms. Martinez also served as Deputy Legal Counsel to Governor Paul Cellucci and Executive Director of the Massachusetts Judicial Nominating Council, where she administered all stages of the judicial nomination process. Prior to her tenure in Governor Cellucci’s office, Ms. Martinez served as Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection and Antitrust Division of the Office of the Attorney General. 

 

Ms. Martinez received her JD at Northeastern University School of Law and a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston College. She currently serves on the Chair of the Compliance Committee for United Benefit Advisors (UBA), an alliance of the Nation’s premier independent benefit advisory firms, and the Board of The Boston Home and ALPFA-Law (Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting). Ms. Martinez also blogs regularly for UBA and is published in numerous employee benefits publications.
