Massachusetts Pregnant Workers Fairness Act

Description

On April 1, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act took effect in Massachusetts, which provides broad protections for pregnant women and nursing mothers in the workplace.  This webinar, presented by McLane Middleton attorneys Adam Hamel and Alexandra Geiger, will address how the law has changed and what employers must do to be in compliance with the Act.  

 

"MCAD issued Guidance on the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, effective April 1, 2018. The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (“the Act”) amends the current statute prohibiting discrimination in employment, G.L. c. 151B, §4, enforced by theMassachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD)."

 

Presenters:


Alexandra Geiger is an associate in the litigation department where she assists clients in a wide variety of business and civil litigation matters, including contract, product liability and discrimination claims, as well as other business disputes. Ali represents and counsels individuals and businesses in all stages of litigation.
Ali also has experience counseling employers on managing risk with respect to the employment relationship and representing employers in discrimination, wrongful termination and contract disputes, including claims brought before state and federal agencies.
Prior to joining the firm, Alexandra was an attorney at two Boston litigation firms where she concentrated her practice in general civil and commercial litigation.
Ali received her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and her B.A. from The University of Chicago. During law school, Alexandra served as the Articles

 

Adam Hamel is a director in McLane Middleton’s Litigation Department, concentrating his practice in the areas of business, employment and probate litigation. Adam regularly assists clients on a variety of commercial and employment litigation matters, including claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, and violations of restrictive covenants. Adam also has extensive experience working on will contests, fiduciary litigation and guardianships.
Adam received his J.D., magna cum laude, from New England Law / Boston in 2005.
