Maria Robles
is the 2008 Norma Kornegay Clarke Scholarship Award recipient.  Maria is an honor roll student at the Jeremiah E. Burke High School. She has a 4.54 grade point average. Maria’s intelligence and leadership skills related to diversity are manifested by her devotion to family, community service and student government. Currently she is the class of 2008 Valedictorian. She was elected as senior class president and is an active participant of various student clubs including JROTC.

 

Maria enjoys volunteer work. For example she participated in Marine Toys for Tots drive, Baptist Church Thanksgiving Dinner, and the Annual Pine Street Christmas Dinner. In addition, Maria provides English and Math tutorial services to students preparing for the SSAT Test.   

 

Maria is an articulate Latina with an infectious smile, personality and demeanor. She exhibits great communication skills, is persuasive and influential, contributing to her effectiveness establishing interpersonal relations. Her positive and assertive attitude and behavior will continue to be a significant aspect of her developing and accomplishing personal and professional goals. 

 

Because of Maria’s values and commitment to diversity through family, community, volunteerism, and academic excellence, the NEHRA Diversity Scholarship Committee proudly recognizes Maria N. Robles as the recipient of the 2008 Norma Kornegay Clarke Scholarship Award.
