Alberta Wright, a student at Boston Latin School, shows diversity in both her impressive range of talents as well as in the causes she promotes. In her activities for the Cooks Who Care Club and Amnesty International she works to raise funds for and awareness of humanitarian issues while also mentoring the younger members of these groups.

Alberta has proven that her interest in diversity is sincere and extends far beyond Boston Latin’s structured programs and clubs. She has taken French classes at the French Library and has eagerly learned the French culture by hosting a French student and spending a summer living in France with a host family. Her deep concern for promoting diversity is also reflected on the playing field, where she is a member of a multicultural soccer team and will opt to end a game early rather than play against teams that resort to hurling racial epithets against her teammates.

In addition to her formidable schedule of activities, Alberta is an impressive scholar. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has already begun taking college level courses. She is looking forward to continuing her college career.

NEHRA is proud to announce Alberta Wright as the 2006 Medallion Scholarship Award recipient.
