Shaneka Davis, a student at Monument High School in Boston, not only excels in school – she is the highestranking student in her senior class – but she is committed to her community. As president of the South Boston Education Complex National Honor Society, Shaneka coordinated a volunteer program at the Marion Manor Nursing Home. She is also a member of the UMASS Boston Urban Scholars Program, an Imani Dream Chaser and a trained peer mediator. Outside of school, Shaneka is active in her church youth group and is a rescue team member where she talks at drug rehabilitation clinics once a month. She has worked as an assistant law clerk at the Joe Moakley Federal Court and interned with the Massachusetts Parole Board. Shaneka’s energy and dedication to those less fortunate than herself makes her an inspirational role model for those who know her. NEHRA is proud to announce Shaneka Davis as the 2005 Medallion Award recipient. |
